OUR STORY

Why we
started.

Before starting his own agribusiness, Gonyeyee Bartuah worked as an agronomist on agricultural projects with international organizations and volunteered alongside local farmers. That work showed him both the determination of farming families and the value of practical support.

He also saw how the long aftermath of Liberia’s civil war had narrowed education and employment opportunities for many young people. He wanted to build a farming business that could create work, share knowledge, and make room for women and young people as it grew.

Today, Bartuah Farms operates from Johnson Town, Garwula District, Grand Cape Mount County. We have a 100-acre farm base, with 75 acres allocated to oil palm and 30 acres under planting and establishment. Pig farming is also active. This work is the foundation for a proposed farmer initiative and future local processing, each dependent on the right partners, resources, and technical preparation.
